Class Expectations, Policies, & Procedures
8th Grade Science 2011-12
Expectations:
Every member of the classroom community will be treated with respect.
Arrive to class on time with all required materials: writing utensil, binder, journal, and assignments.
Each member of the classroom community will take responsibility for their learning (complete assignments; ask questions; ask for help) and strive to maintain a strong work ethic.
All community members will take responsibility for sustaining an atmosphere that is positive, cooperative and civic-minded.
Assignments:
Will be posted daily in the classroom and must be recorded in your assignment book.
A weekly assignment sheet, subject to change, will be available on First Class and in the classroom.
Place assignments in your class basket at the start of the class unless instructed otherwise.
Written assignments will not be accepted late except in the case of an absence.
Students are responsible for making up missed work as per school guidelines.
Students will have 1 Homework Free pass.
Labs:
Must be typed and follow the Applewild Lab Report Format.
There will be a ten-point penalty for each day late; after the second day, the lab will not be accepted.
Students will have time to peer-edit drafts of reports during class; come prepared.
Quizzes & Tests:
No makeup on quizzes and tests except in for excused absences.
All tests will be announced; quizzes may or may not be announced.
Academic Honesty:
Students may discuss labs and assignments, but all written work must be done individually and in their own words.
Procedure & Data sections may not be copied without specific instructions from the teacher
Plagiarism is not acceptable in any form. This will be discussed further in class.
