Class Expectations, Policies, & Procedures
8th Grade Biology 2008-09
Expectations:
ÿ Every member of the classroom community will be treated with respect.
ÿ Arrive to class on time with all required materials: writing utensil, binder, journal, and assignments.
ÿ Every member of the classroom community will take responsibility for their learning (complete assignments; ask questions; ask for help).
ÿ All community members will take responsibility for sustaining an atmosphere that is positive, cooperative and civic-minded.
Assignments:
ÿ Will be posted daily in the classroom and must be recorded in your assignment book.
ÿ A weekly assignment sheet, subject to change, will be available on First Class and in the classroom.
ÿ Place assignments in your class basket at the start of the class.
ÿ Written assignments will not be accepted late except in the case of an absence.
ÿ Students are responsible for making up missed work as per school guidelines.
ÿ Students will have 1 Homework Free pass.
Labs:
ÿ Must be typed and follow the Applewild Lab Report Format.
ÿ There will be a ten-point penalty for each day late; after the second day, the lab will not be accepted.
ÿ Students will have time to peer-edit drafts of reports during class; come prepared.
Quizzes & Tests:
ÿ No makeup on quizzes and tests except in for excused absences.
ÿ All tests will be announced; quizzes may or may not be announced
Academic Honesty:
ÿ Students may discuss labs and assignments, but all written work must be done individually and in their own words.
ÿ Procedure & Data sections may not be copied without specific instructions from the teacher
ÿ Plagiarism is not acceptable in any form. This will be discussed further in class.
