Fourth Grade Gazette 5/21/10 What's coming:  Field Day is Friday.  Please make sure your child has sunscreen on and is dressed for the weather.  There is a noon dismissal.  Please make sure your teacher knows your child's dismissal arrangements. Math: 4SH will have a unit 11 test on Wed. 5/26. Please make sure your child studies the chapter between now and then.  Mrs. Shepardson will have the same test on Tuesday.  We will then go back into chapter 10 to cover customary units of measurement. Social Studies:  We continue to read Immigrant Kids. Language Arts: IIM will take up most of our language arts periods this week.  We'll be busy writing and typing our essays.  Please send in an easy-to-read copy of the recipe you plan to make for the Heritage Festival by next Friday.  Together with your child, you should make a plan about the preparation and delivery of the foods for 6/4. Spelling will return this week.  Mrs. S-H's group will work on lesson 13 words.  Mrs. Shepardson's group will begin Lesson 8.  This lesson is a review of the consonant patterns we have studied so far this year. Science: We have had some fun outside practicing our rubbing technique and learning a little botany: leaf venation and leaf margins. We'll apply another rubbing tecnique to help us identify fingerprint patterns. Reminders:  Please send in several large bags. Next week we will begin to send home different projects that have accumulated throughout the year.  Please send in water for your child every day!!
